At least 10 people went missing after a motorboat capsized in the Dhaleshwari river off the coast of Narayanganj’s Sadar upazila following a collision with another vessel on Wednesday, officials said.
Rashed Bin Khaled, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense control room, said the motorboat with 60-70 passengers on board sank in the river after being hit by the Dhaka-bound vessel near the Dharmaganj ghat around 9am.
While many passengers managed to swim ashore, “at least 10 people are missing”, he said. “Five divers from the local fire service are conducting rescue operations.”
